FoundMoney by Kovet
Someone may be holding money that belongs to you
States hold billions in unclaimed money — old bank accounts, deposits, refunds, and checks that never arrived. FoundMoney searches the official unclaimed-property databases of all 50 states and the District of Columbia for you, for free, and guides your claim if we find a match.
Three facts that never change. Kovet is a private company, not a government agency. You can always claim directly from the state for free — our service is optional help. Unclaimed money does not expire, and anyone who pressures you with a deadline is not describing how this works.
Covered states — decided by the state holding your money, not where you live
Anyone can request a search — we only learn which state holds a property after searching. The claim service below covers property held by these 29 states:
Covered — 29 states · 10% fee, only after you're paid
For property held by these states, and only after the state has actually paid you, our fee is 10% of what you received, under the signed agreement below. Nothing upfront, ever.
Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Wyoming.
Property held by another state?
We do not offer this service for it — no agreement, no fee, no claim engagement from us. We'll tell you which state holds it, as information only, so you can claim directly from that state's official unclaimed-property site yourself, free of charge (official state portals are linked from unclaimed.org and missingmoney.com). In those states, paid claim help runs through licensed professionals: a licensed attorney, CPA, or investigator licensed in that state can represent you there. Browse the professional directory on the FoundMoney Pro page to find one enrolled for that state.
Fees, in plain sight
Our fees — clearly labeled
Our fee: 10% of the amount the state actually pays you. Charged ONLY after you are paid. $0 upfront. $0 if we find nothing. This service covers property held by these 29 states only: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Wyoming. For property held by any other state we do not offer this service — you can claim directly from that state's official site yourself, and those states are served through licensed professionals (see FoundMoney Pro). Indiana: total fee capped at $5,000. If a state law caps the fee lower, the lower cap wins. Property still inside a state's waiting period (usually 24 months; Virginia 36; New Mexico 48) is never charged — we point you to the free claim.
The fee exists only under the Finder Agreement you sign below, and only for a specific property we disclose to you in a Property Schedule (holder state, description, reported amount, and the fee in dollars) before any fee attaches. Full terms: FoundMoney Terms · FoundMoney Privacy Policy.
How it works
- You request a free search with the form below and sign the Finder Agreement electronically. That signature covers only qualifying covered-state property — it creates no charge today.
- We search the official state databases using the names and states you gave us, and email you what we find.
- For each property, you get the details first. Covered property: a Property Schedule with the fee in dollars before anything attaches. Too-new property (still inside its waiting period): we point you to the free direct claim and take nothing. Property held by a state outside the 29: we tell you which state holds it, as information only, so you can claim directly from that state yourself — no service and no fee from us.
- You claim on the official state portal. The state may ask for ID or documents — you enter those only on the state's own website, never on ours.
- The state pays you directly. Only then, and only for covered property under a Property Schedule, is our 10% fee due. You tell us within 10 days of being paid; the fee is due within 15 days of that payment.
Request your free search & sign the agreement
One form does both: it starts your search and captures your electronic signature on the Finder Agreement. The agreement covers only qualifying property held by the 29 covered states. We collect only what's below — never a Social Security number, ID, date of birth, or bank details.

Questions, answered plainly
What is unclaimed money?
Money and property that companies owed you but couldn't deliver — forgotten bank accounts, security deposits, insurance payouts, refunds, uncashed checks. By law it is turned over to the state, which holds it until the owner claims it. It does not expire.
Can I just do this myself for free?
Yes — always. Every state runs an official unclaimed-property site, and unclaimed.org links to all of them. Many people use FoundMoney because searching 50+ state databases under every name you've used takes hours, and claim paperwork varies by state. But the free route is real — for too-new property inside a covered state we'll point you to it ourselves, and for property in states we don't cover, telling you the official state site is exactly what we do (as information only, since we don't offer a service there).
What exactly do you charge?
See the fees box above — it appears next to the form and again next to the signature, word for word. In short: $0 to search; 10% of what the state actually pays you, only for property held by the 29 covered states, only after you're paid, only under a signed agreement and a Property Schedule for that specific property, with state caps and the Indiana $5,000 ceiling applied. For property held by any other state, we don't offer this service at all.
Will you ask for my SSN, ID, or bank details?
Never. Our form collects only your name, email, states lived in, and optionally former names and current city/state. When a state needs identity documents to pay a claim, you enter them yourself on the official state website. If anyone claiming to be us asks for those things — or for gift cards or upfront payment — it is a scam; tell us at [email protected].
Do you guarantee you'll find money?
No. A search can come back empty, a match can turn out to belong to someone with the same name, and the state decides every claim. We guarantee the search itself: every official database, every name you give us, and honest reporting of what we find.
How long does a claim take?
States commonly take 30 to 180 days to pay a claim; estate matters can take 6 to 12 months or longer. We can't speed a state up, and anyone who promises otherwise is guessing.
What happens to my information?
It's used only to run your search and handle your claim, never sold, never used to train AI models. Search records with no match are deleted 90 days after follow-up closes; full details are in the FoundMoney Privacy Policy. You can ask to see, correct, or delete your data any time at [email protected].
Can I cancel?
Yes — cancel a search request any time, free, at [email protected]. The Finder Agreement can be cancelled within any period your state provides and, in any event, before a claim is submitted for a scheduled property.
